MONDAY, 8 NOVEMBER:

MOBILISATION AGAINST SECURITY CERTIFICATES

RALLY in front of the Federal Court of Appeal (Thomas D'Arcy McGee Building, 90 Sparks St.) OTTAWA at NOON (rides from Montreal available, see details below).

Call or fax-in day (see details below).

Adil Charkaoui launched a constitutional challenge to security certificates shortly after his arrest under this abusive process. Following Judge Noel's decision to uphold the validity of the security certificate process at the Federal Court level, an appeal was launched. The first hearing at the Federal Court of Appeal will take place in Ottawa on 8 November.

In this political file, public pressure remains essential. The security certificate process puts our fundamental rights in jeopardy. The Coalition for Justice for Adil Charkaoui therefore invites you to join us on 8 November to denounce security certificates.

CONSTITUTIONALITY OF SECURITY CERTIFICATES ?!

In mid-October, more than 60 law experts and legal associations in Canada, including the Canadian Bar Association, sent a letter to the Minister of Public Safety, Anne McLellan, to express their grave concerns with the legal process of security certificates. The same day, a commentary was published in the Globe and Mail.
