"In the grim darkness of the far future, there is only war! Forget the promise of progress and understanding, for there is no peace amongst the stars, only an eternity of carnage and slaughter and the laughter of thirsting gods." -From the war game Warhammer, a lot of which is now on display at the children's candy store Sugar Sugar

"Playing with war toys legitimizes and makes violent behavior acceptable. It desensitizes children to the dangers and harm of violent behavior and increases the chance that they will resort to violent behavior... The degree that youngsters are learning to take pleasure from aggression decreases their ability to learn empathy, negotiation, and cooperation." - Dr. Arnold Goldstein, PhD., Director of Center for Research and Aggression at the University of Syracuse

Stop the Sale of War Toys In Our Neighbourhood

Easter Saturday Peace Picket

with the Easter Bunny

Saturday, April 14, 12 noon-2 pm

Sugar, Sugar, 515 St. Clair Ave. West (just west of Bathurst)

Sugar Sugar used to be a nice place to take your kids to buy treats, but now it has entered the realm of a toxic store which celebrates and promotes toys based on violence and insensitivity to violence. In addition to the "game" Warhammer, Sugar Sugar also sells the gum "warheads," which insults those who have been victimized by aerial bombard-ment and nuclear bombs. Below is what you might find during a trip to Sugar Sugar:

"Imperial Guard: Kill. Or be Killed. Travel to Exotic Places. Meet interesting and exciting people and kill them." Capt. Davies, 4th Regiment, Imperial Guard, Warhammer

"Tactical squads, devastator squads, terminator squads, assassins, a predator annihilator, an allied immolater." Some of the elements of Warhammer Space Marines

"Line up your tanks in the back using their big weapons while forging a two-pronged attack with your squads. Take pot-shots with your tanks against the heavily armoured guys, and if you have an eversore assassin, rush him in quick. Teleport your termies in near the weakest troops. This is a great strategy, as you have the big guns." Warhammer advice.
